Yuko Nasaka (°1938, Osaka) started to present her oil paintings and drawings when she was only in junior high school. Following these exhibitions, she was awarded several art prices and soon after joined the avant-garde Gutai movement as one of the few Japanese female artists. Nasaka exhibited her large works worldwide in several galleries and museums, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitestone Gallery, Ginza. She often used drills and potter's wheels in order to create her trademark circular works
